David & Nichole - married at Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park!

Wooooooeeeeeeee! That's all I can say. Ok, well it's not ALL I can say, but it's what I want to say. What an exciting wedding! How often is it that you get to photograph a wedding at an amusement park? Like once in a lifetime? Maybe some photographers do it all the time, but around here, it's not very often. So we jumped at the chance when David and Nichole came to us and asked us to work with them for their April 30th wedding at Knoebel's Grove Amusement Park in Elysburg, PA. We definitely aren't strangers to Knoebel's, as Joel and I have both been going there since we were kids, and we now take our kids at least once a summer. It's one of the few, cool, old time type amusement parks left. Where you don't have to pay admission to get in - you can either buy tickets and ride what you want to, or get a handstamp for the day and ride as much as you want, or if you don't like to ride rides? you can just come along and watch and don't have to pay anything at all. We love it!

David and Nichole love it too. In fact, they are kind of amusement park junkies. David actually proposed to Nichole on a roller coaster, imagine that! So they couldn't picture a better place to get married than right in front of the Phoenix roller coaster. Their wedding was held on opening day for the park, and the ceremony took place at 10:30AM, right before the park opened. And they had a short, sweet ceremony, so that they could have private rides on the Phoenix until 11:30. That's a nice set up if you ask me. David and Nichole rode the Phoenix 3 or 4 times in a row. Then it was off to the bumper cars.

A picnic lunch was served as their "reception" for their guests, but was very informal and casual, and all guests were encouraged to dress comfortably. David and Nichole bought handstamps for all of their guests so they could ride all day long! After the meal and cupcake cutting, we did a few family shots and then it was time to get our ride on. David and Nichole quickly changed, and they really aren't very into formal posed photos, so we followed them around the rest of the time and got some photos of them on rides, and hanging out with their friends. It really was a FUN day and we loved being able to do something so completely different for a wedding!
