Allison and Shaun: The Marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Pants

Monday, September 8, 2008 - Weddings
I just couldn't help myself. I had to call the post that. When Alli and Shaun first started getting serious, he wanted to give her a pet name - we all do - you know that special little name you call that special someone. Well instead of "pookie" or "sweetums" or something like that, Shaun called Alli "Pants". It was different, for sure, and you wouldn't think a name like that would stick, but it did. So much so, that Alli had Mrs. Pants embroidered on her custom Converse Sneaks for the wedding day. And, the ceremony programs even said, The Marriage of Shaun and Alli Pants. :) It totally fit their personalities.

We first met Alli way back in 2005, when she was a bridesmaid in her friend Sarah's wedding that we photographed. We again saw her in 2006, when she was a bridesmaid at Brandy's wedding. Alli had always been such a ball at the weddings, and we were hoping to work with her on her own wedding someday - and we did! We were psyched when she called us and told us it was her turn, and that her and Shaun were tying the knot. We worked with them on a really, really fab engagement session, and couldn't wait until August 29th for their wedding. But - the day finally came!

They held their ceremony and reception in York, PA, in a really, really cool venue - the Valencia Ballroom, which back in it's heydey was a hoppin dance hall - circa early 1900s. We couldn't wait to work here, as we have known about it for years, but is just one of those venues we have never gotten to.

It rained on their wedding day, but that didn't hold any of us back from having an absolutely wonderful time. The ceremony and reception were both scheduled to be held inside the ballroom anyways, and luckily the rain slowed down to a good mist, just long enough for us to grab some portraits of the wedding party and Alli and Shaun outside after the ceremony.

One of the highlights of the day for us, were the custom Converse sneakers Alli and Shaun had for their entire wedding party. As soon as the ceremony concluded, they all hiked upstairs and changed out of their "wedding shoes" into their "dancing shoes". We got some great shots of that below!

The love these two have for each other is intoxicating, and we couldn't have had a better day with them!
Alli was a little nervous before the ceremony, and being her usual comical self, was being over "cheesy" for her hairstylist who was trying to grab a shot of her.
The architecture and windows inside this place were ahhhwwwwsome. ;)
Alli's friend (and our former bride!) Sarah, delivering the "card that makes you cry" message from Shaun.
Some rings on some socks. You will see some more of these later, promise. :)
The inside of the Valencia - it was gorgeous! Alli started to cry when she saw how beautiful it looked.
Shaun and those naughty boys.
Yeah, this is inside the men's bathroom, how cool is that?
And mine in the men's bathroom - they were some pretty swanky cool bathrooms, fer sure.
Sarah and Tim and a little PDA before the ceremony started. They will be celebrating their 3 year anniversary coming up next month! Congrats guys!
The ceremony was candle-lit...
Alli and Shaun wrote their own vows, and there is nothing better than words straight from the heart. I don't think there were many dry eyes, and certainly not Alli's here!
After the ceremony, Alli showing off the bling, AND putting on her socks. :)
Some of the bridesmaids getting all dudded up.
Uh yeah, the groomsmen were ready for the alcohol to flow!
Some fun out in the mist, with the lights of the ballroom.
Some schweet portraits.
Yeah, the groomsmen stopped traffic for this one. :)
Ahhh, there they are! Gotta love a bride that isn't afraid to express herself. You rock Alli!
This is so uber fab I can't even stand it. AND I am so totally jealous cause Joel took it and not me! :) This was inside the ticket booth right in the lobby of the ballroom - it totally reminds me of an old time hollywood portrait.
Here they come, the lovely couple!
A little toast.
Oh, and um, yeah, uh, picking up the bride? She had no idea what waited for her...
Checkin out some iPhone photos - that's what I'm talking about!
That's a lot of cake going into Alli's mouth. Shaun was a little overzealous with the size of that piece!
Totally loved their first dance song - one of our fave songs - Joel's brother actually requested we used it for his engagement slideshow. How awesome - check it out on iTunes - "Pistol" by Dustin Kensrue. Awesome tunage.
Love everything about this shot. 'Nuf said.
The peanut gallery cheering on the catchers of the bouquet and garter...
...they were having fun with it. :)
Alli calling over Shaun to dance!
And what a last shot!
