An adventure in the great wild beyond...

Monday, July 9, 2007 - Personal
Hope y'all had a great 4th of July! We managed to escape the rain until Thursday afternoon, which was good, because we had gone on our first tent camping excursion with the boys. Our friends Brock and Rebecca, from the fabulous Infinet Design invited us to camp with them on some land they own up above State College. So we packed up the Wiebner Wagon and headed North.

Here is where we ate breakfast at, just before we reached our destination. It totally reminds me of something out of the 70s.
Brock and Becca chillin under the super-awesome lean-to that Joel and Brock put up. We were worried about that rain!
Not the best photo, but ya get the picture now about the lean-to.
Haydn on his way down the hillside for our hike.
What a good looking bunch of campers!
And the happy Wiebner family! Boy do we look tired! And why is Zane missing a shoe?
I love this photo of Brock and Becca - Brock looks like a giant next to Bec!
Joel found a salamander in the creek....
...which made Zane very, very happy. I swear that kid is going to be a vet or something! He loves animals! Here the salamander was growing weary of Zane picking him up, so he just laid down on his arm.
Back at camp, it's time to make some supper - roasted dogs! Hot dogs that is! And baked beans! Nothing says camp better.
This photo cracks me up. I feel like Brock is the great hunter - stalking Joel with his camera. Joel looks a little bit like a deer in headlights.
MMMMmmmmm.......S-M-O-R-E-S!!!!
More smores!
After we put the kids to bed, us big kids stayed up at the fire. Too bad we saw UFIs!!! No, not UFOs, UFIs. What is a UFI you might ask? Well, an Unidentified Flying - Insect! We kept seeing these crazy lights flying around among the treetops, flashing weird patterns - kind of looked like lightning bugs flashing, but they were so high up. We think they were some kind of alien insect.....(too many smores, I know, we were all a little loopy)

So anyway, we then did some Blair Witch type self-portraits - in reality, the flash was just so darn bright!!
Yeah, I look a little scary in this one.
Brock looks like he is going to hurt someone!
And yes, Joel was transformed into a Smurf! He just bounced the flash off of something blue....hehe....
And last on our trip, the next morning we were returning from the lake and saw a rattlesnake stretched out across the road!! Of course boys being boys, Brock and Joel had to get out and look at it!
