Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see an "I Like This" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!

I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita
Amy and Kyle, Kyle and Amy...what can I say about these two? First I have to say, Amy's attention to detail is absolutely magnificent. I could have blogged 60 photos from this wedding, but we had to cut it down, so some of the details were left out over some better shots with awesome expressions and that helped to tell the story of the day.
We first had fun with these two last summer, when we went to Cape May, for their Engagement Session. We all got along fabulously, and were super excited when we met with them for their final meeting before the wedding. Amy kept on pouring out detail after detail of all of this cool stuff she was going to have at the wedding. We couldn't wait!!!
What none of us counted on, was the unbearable heat that took over on June 7th, their wedding day. It had to be the hottest day of the year for Central PA, I think with temperatures near 100 degrees or just over. Definitely one of our hottest weddings ever. But Amy, looking ever so elegant, charged the heat with a smile, and although we were all super hot, her, Kyle and their wedding party braved the heat for some totally rockin' portraits after the ceremony. We had a lot of time to shoot, and for nearly an hour, we walked around down near Riverfront and the surrounding streets - in some of the same spots we had been the night before for Maria and Rob's session. Not liking to do the same thing twice, we found completely different spots from the night before. That's what I love about what we do - it's one of our favorite things. Creative challenges. Taking something you have seen many times and reinventing it again and again. No two weddings or shoots are ever the same, and neither are the locations! We love it!
Amy and Kyle were having so much fun - that the time just flew by and they didn't even mind the heat. Once finished with our fun downtown, we went to the uber-sweet, Milestone Inn, where Amy was at that morning for preparations - for the reception. I love that place. The interior is amazing and I could shoot there all day - every little nook and cranny is rocktacular. I love old stone buildings, and this one is it!
The reception was just simply...unforgettable. It started off with the whole wedding party walking in to a huge bubble shower, (as in bubble machines!) and after dinner, in normal north-central PA tradition, the dollar dance was one like we have never witnessed before. Half of the guests were up singing to Amy and Kyle for the entire dance, they were circling and dancing around them, it was so cool. I know some people think the dollar dance is cheesy or corny, but from where we come from, it's expected. AND...we always get awesome shots from it! So don't knock the dollar dance people! It makes great shots...
As if the great dollar dance wasn't enough, Amy had arranged for an ice cream truck to come during the reception and give everyone ice cream. Totally a first for us! It couldn't have been arranged for a better day either. With the heat, everyone was in need of it!
We ended the night with some fun shots at the ice cream truck - and were sad to go. We had such an amazing day with these two, we didn't want it to end! Thank you both for being such wonderful genuine people. It was truly a joy to be part of your day. Much love!
Now are you ready for photos, finally? I think I am done rambling. Here is a shot as we started our day at the Milestone...

Red and White and in Love all over - Maria and Rob Wednesday, June 25, 2008
So when we did this session, I had not met either Rob or Maria yet. Joel had initially met with Maria last year, so this was truly a "getting to know you" session for all of us. We always like to have as much fun as possible with engagement sessions, and I knew we would as soon as we started working with these two. I asked Maria what she was going to use her engagement pics for, and she said, "Nothing special, I just want to be on the blog!" That's always a good sign. :) So we took a bunch of fun stuff just for the two of them to have. I have been dying to get these up on here as we just had such a great time with these two. We are really looking forward to their wedding in August.
Maria wanted some shots along riverfront in Harrisburg, so that was where we started and just walked from there. The funny thing was, is that we were going to be on riverfront again, the next day! for Amy and Kyle's wedding, but that is a different story, soon to be revealed.
It was starting to get hot and steamy for this session, not in a passionate way (although these two WERE hot for each other!) - but in a let's sweat to death way. It was a challenge to not be soaking wet, but we all managed to come through, well...just a bit glistening. :)
One of the coolest things for me, and I know I am a huge super cornball dork - Maria's hair matched Rob's shirt! It was one of the first things I noticed and I had to say something right away. It was just so awesome. Their colors all went perfectly together - and they were fun and funky and ready to do what we wanted, even though it required getting sweaty...I have to point out up top - Joel found this little army guy figurine as we were shooting, so he had to use it for a shot. We are really just big kids, didn't you figure that out by now?
Along with the army guy, I found a perfect little chalk heart drawn on the top of a column. I had to use it!

Sunset...what a ooeygooey, loveydovey, light-tastic time!

And as twilight set in, we found a cool spot with some street light. Rock on guys! Can't wait until August!
Christine and Scott made the drive up from outside of Philly area to have us take some special shots of them and their poochies - since they won't be able to have the dogs at their wedding in a few weeks. What cute little guys they were! Sam and Louie were in several of the shots, but when they weren't, Christine's mom was along to keep an eye on them. It's always great to have a 3rd person along when pets are involved in a shoot.
We walked in the vicinity surrounding our studio, and found some great spots we haven't found before. That is what I really love about being in the city. You can go in any direction, and find something completely different from what you found before. We have had many city shoots in the last several months, and not one of them looks anything like the others. It's the best!
So apparently Scott doesn't like having his photo taken, which we didn't find out until the end of the shoot. We never would have guessed it! Him and Christine were so natural together, it never showed. Oh and Sam and Louie were natural hams of course! If we could get them to stop barking for about 10 seconds, we were lucky. :) But it made for some great doggie expressions!
Can't wait until your wedding guys!
Joel found this shot...funny...

Rain can't scare us! Nicole and John's wedding Friday, June 20, 2008
So May 31st it rained. And rained, and rained some more. It was kind of scattered throughout the day, but for the most part, it was always raining at the moment we wanted to, or needed to be outside with Nicole and John. No matter! Luckily, Nicole was getting ready at her parent's house which was huge and beautiful inside - we had a lot of great rooms to work in. We had a brief break in the rain when we headed over to the church to get John and the guys - and then there was a beautiful Catholic ceremony, followed by some portraits of our happy couple at the Four Points Sheraton in York. John and Nicole were so cute together - giving little smiles and kisses here and there too each other. You could really see how much they loved each other!
The reception was wild, with over 300 guests in attendance and an amazingly huge dance floor, it was a party to remember! Oh, and super jealous - Nicole and John went on a 2 week honeymoon to Euro-Disney! Hope you guys had fun!
Here's Nicole just after she finished dressing, heading down the stairs to see her parents and bridesmaids for the first time. She was a little nervous I think!

Go Penn State! Meredith and Mike's Engagement Thursday, June 19, 2008
The other week we went up to State College to hang out with Meredith and Mike. Their wedding is coming up in August in Altoona - and we decided to all get together and have some fun playing around with an engagement session. Mike and Meredith met at Penn State, so they were anxious to get there and hit some of the spots they remember.
We started off rolling around in the grass - where we had a debate about "nose pinchers" - i.e. maple tree noses. I am sure there is a scientific name for them, but this is the PA local term for them. :) Meredith stuck one on Mike's nose and we all had a good laugh at Mike's expense. Sorry Mike!

As we walked through the buildings, I saw this in the rear of one of them - there were steps and a ramp leading down to a storage area. I saw this cool overhead shot, and asked Mike and Meredith to humor me. The perspective is kind of funky, huh?
