Joel and I both used to work with Sarah's dad, West at our old job, waaaay back when. We were happy to hear from him when he contacted us for some cool and different senior photos for Sarah. We couldn't wait! We met up with them along the river near Marietta, and away we went. Sarah was super easy to work with, and did whatever we asked. We found a really awesome field, and really awesome light, and got some really awesome photos!

Sam's Downtown Senior Session

Sam came to the studio with his step-sister Samantha the other week (Samantha is one of our babysitters!) and we walked around downtown getting some shots for his senior photos. He had more fun than he expected - Joel and I are super easy and laid back when we are shooting, and we quickly put Sam at ease. It also helped that Samantha was there, and since we have known her for 6 years, it was like a big walking photo party! Sam really enjoys basketball, so after we got some urban shots done, we headed to a nearby basketball court and got a few shots with him and his favorite basketball. We don't get to photograph seniors as often as we would like to, so it was fun getting to do something a little different for once. Enjoy the pics!

The Beautiful Grace - Now a Senior

The other week we had the pleasure of working with another sibling from one of our favorite families. It's hard to believe Grace is ready to be a high school senior. We first met her 4 years ago when we photographed her sister Jessica's wedding. We also did her other sister's wedding in 2006 - you may remember seeing Carrie on the blog if you have been following for awhile. :)

Grace has certainly grown into a beautiful young lady, and although she was a little nervous, we tried to make her as comfortable as possible. We even managed to get a few giggles out of her. We really had a blast walking around downtown with her. It is a very different experience though for us, photographing just one person instead of two. Most of our clients are couples in love, so its fun when we get to do something different. Not that we don't love our couples :) cause we totally do, just photographing one person is, well, different. We ended up picking some spots to shoot that we have never thought of before because it was easier to do with just a solo subject. We are pretty darn happy with the results :) and Grace we hope you are too!

We started out at the studio and actually played around in the foyer to our building.

And we borrowed these blue doors from a local church, you would never guess though!

This is one of my favorites. Joel was down below setting Grace up for something and I stayed up above and then looked down and saw this great shot. This is one of those things that I just couldn't do with a couple - there isn't enough room in that tiny little space! :)

Back at the studio Grace did a quick change and we did some more casual stuff using the stairs.

This was one of those giggles - I think Joel said something corny or nerdy to get her to laugh - it worked! ;)

Emily - Senior Portraits

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of photographing Emily for some senior photos. We had done some photos for Cindy, Emily's mom, earlier this year, so she and Emily wanted us to be there for senior time! We brainstormed about where Emily would like to go, either a special place to her or somewhere she frequents, and she came up with the North Museum of Natural History & Science - which is located at the corner of F&M College Campus here in Lancaster. It is literally a block and a half from our house. We walked there for the shoot, met up with Cindy and Emily outside and off we went! Emily was excited because this was one of her favorite places to go with her mom as a kid. We were glad to find some great little nooks and crannies in the museum and ended up with a few shots outside. Emily was a fun teenager to work with, and we asked her why she wanted to use us for her senior portraits (instead of going to the usual people for senior portraits) - and she said it was because she wanted something different. She said none of her friends would have photos like these and she was excited! That's what we love to hear! So here are a few from her session!

First up here, we found a cool reddish-orange elevator we had some fun with.

And I just loved these doors and the light pouring in...

Down in the basement they had aisles and aisles of antique "trophy" type cases, with various "stuffed" animals in them.

Outside we found some more wildlife.

Adam's Senior Photos

Still swamped and still working on photos from vacation! Sorry guys, hopefully I will get some done next week. We have 2 weddings this coming weekend also, so be prepared for some juicy wedding photos early next week! Anyway, let me get on to Adam. Our trip to California was initiated by Joel's Aunt Laurie's pestering (just kidding!) about us needing to come out to visit. So we did, and we actually stayed at her house for the entire trip. Joel has 4 cousins - and Adam the 2nd youngest, is a senior this coming year. Aunt Laurie asked us if we would do some photos of him while we were out there, and we said of course! So we tromped him around to a few different places, and he was a piece of cake. Joel had him laughing the whole time, making it easy to get good expressions!
