Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see an "I Like This" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!

I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita
So I mentioned earlier that we didn't get to do too much in San Antonio while we were there - we did have a bout a day and a half to ourselves, the rest of the time we were working. Downtown was packed with Fiesta activities and crowds, so we stayed away from all of that. We don't mind doing that stuff with our kids, but it really isn't our thing when we are alone. Joel and I would rather meander through antique stores (which we did, and antiquing is also VERY different in Texas!), or find something out of the way to photograph. We had been thinking of driving up to Austin to photograph the Cathedral of Junk, but then we heard that they were either tearing it down, or reconstructing (due to code violations) - so we decided to scrap that idea and head for the Missions. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park is a mouthful to say, but well worth spending the day at. :)
We started out at Mission Concepcion, which was my favorite, because of all of the original artwork inside. It just FELT old. I like old stuff. We have always loved old buildings, warehouses, etc. - the textures and colors are always just amazing to me. The skies were a little cloudy while we were at this Mission (it had thunderstormed pretty bad the day before) but then opened up during the course of our time there to reveal beautiful blue skies with perfectly puffy while clouds.
We proceeded to tour around Mission San Jose, Mission Espada, and Mission San Juan. Each was very different, and all of them are still active Catholic parishes. The history was fascinating.
The images below we printed as fine art prints and hung in our gallery for May's 1st Friday. If you are in the area anytime in the next week, stop in and take a look! The show only be up through May 26th. Oh, and by the way - all of the images below were taken by yours truly :) Joel was playing with his Diana that day, and hasn't had a chance to process the images yet. :)
First shot here is of Mission Concepcion.

Got a little mention... Wednesday, September 9, 2009
I just got mentioned on Huy Nguyen's blog for photographers, because of an image I shot at a recent portrait session. Not trying to toot my own horn, rather I wanted to post this, because this is a pretty cool blog Huy has going. Go take a look!
A few weeks ago we were lucky to take a little hiatus from the office work and head to Arizona for a few days. It was a great little mini-vacation and was super relaxing. This was our first time visiting Arizona, and it was beautiful. For a down home country girl (as in farmer/Amish country) - the landscapes of the southwest were just breathtaking. I was constantly in awe of the different plant life and environment we saw. A great example were the homes and power lines there. All of the homes are the same color as the earth - a desert brown color - and they all blend in to the landscape. If you just glance out across the horizon, it is difficult to pick out where homes are. It's really cool. Also, all of the power lines are underground - I guess they do all of this so as not to disrupt the beauty of the land. We were just eating up all of the diversity. Saguaros, cactus candy, woodpeckers everywhere - for the nature lovers that we are, we were in heaven! I just wish we could have spent more time there! We will be back though, next January...
We didn't take too many photos, but did take a bunch of stuff just for us. Here they be!
I really liked this sign we saw at a local shop...

This was right outside in the backyard of our vila we stayed in at the resort.
Wooo-hooo! We are back from a great vacation in sunny California - this was my first time there, and I couldn't get enough! i loved the weather, and seeing such a different landscape from our own was exciting and exhilarating to a photographer's eye! I will have much to blog over the next week from vacation, but we wanted to get these up right away. Joel and I took a mini-vacation day trip while on vacation - Joel's aunt (who lives in CA) kept the kids for us while we had a fun day out shooting with those cool kats and good friends of ours, Nate and Jaclyn from Image is Found. Nate had asked me where I wanted to go months ago, and I said without missing a beat - "Salton Sea!" I had seen some of the work he had done before and I was intrigued. We love old, rotten, decaying, peeling - stuff. Can't help it, just love the textures! Anyway, Joel explained more about Salton's history in his post below, but I just want to talk about the pix - onward!
Oh, and before I forget, I need to mention, how stinking hot it was! LITERALLY! It was 110 degrees, AND it stank so bad you could hardly stand it! Joel talks more about the stinky below, but I wanted to talk about the hot - it was pure California desert heat - as soon as you stepped out of the car you were instantly dripping in sweat. Nate was surprised at my heat tolerance, I kept on going the whole time we were out shooting (which was about 3 hours) - we would break in the car for a bit then go out and shoot, and I would always be the last one to the car. I couldn't help it, I love to take my time and shoot for me when I have the chance, even it it is 110 degrees!
First image here below was taken as I found it, I didn't arrange these little guys to look at each other - these were some of the dead smellies long dried out.

The Salton Sea, Joel's pics Saturday, August 4, 2007
Apparently, about a hundred years ago the Colorado River ran off course for about two years, and the overflow created this salty lake in the middle of the desert. The place was nice for a while, and people enjoyed going there. Now? Not so much. Farm run off and other issues have killed most of the fish in the lake, and made for a pretty nasty environment. In fact, I am trying very hard to keep my language clean as I describe the hot rancid wiff of eggs that hits you in the face with every passing breeze.
Other than that, we had a blast! Nate and Jaclyn of The Image Is Found Photography met us in Rancho Mirage to show us around a bit. I guess it was kinda like a photo field trip from our normal subject. I'm going to stop yapping now, and show you some pics. Rita will probably have more to say when she posts her images, but for now...
