Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see a "Vote for Favorite" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!

I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita
We had the pleasure of being photographed by our good friend and killer photographer from Las Vegas, John Michael Cooper. As a part of his Roadside Portraits Project we were photographed in Lancaster this past summer. The whole series is awesome, and we were so thrilled to be a part of the project. Well, as a bonus to this great experience we received a canvas print from Simply Canvas, a sponsor of John's and ours. We wanted to share this pic of the canvas hanging in our home, because this was a major event in our family's history. This is the first time we have ever been photographed as a family by another photographer. Yeah, we've set up a tripod and taken our our picture before, but that doesn't compare to what can be captured by a real artist. Thanks John and Dalisa! We miss you guys!

Beach Camping Disaster...Sort of Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Yeah, yeah yeah - I am wickedly behind on blog posting. It has been an insane couple of weeks! We have had 2 weddings, several portrait sessions, a family birthday, a photographer workshop and a mini-vacation camping with a bunch of friends! Whew -e! That was a mouthful. This week is blog catch up week, so you can expect a new post every day or two, and then we will be back on our regularly scheduled programming! :)
I am first going to start out with our wonderful, lovely, cheerful, fun, exciting, adventurous, much anticipated - Camping Disaster...er um, I mean Camping Trip! :) It certainly had its ups and downs, which I will elaborate in full, but overall it was a fun trip. Who would want to go on vacation and have it be boring? So on to the good details.
We organized this trip several months ago with some friends - some photographers, and some not - but we all thought a much needed mid-week camping trip on the beach would be a blast. Joel and I had found a great place to camp on the beach last summer - it is down in Southern Maryland on St. George's Island, or Piney Point, MD. Fairly rustic tent camping, and like I said, right on the beach. Last year when we were there, we had gone in August, which is towards the end of the season, and it was very quiet and not too hot. This time around, we enjoyed extreme heat, biting flies that drove the best of us absolutely nuts, stinging jellyfish in the water, oh and a wicked thunderstorm that had about 25-30 mph winds (60-70 mph winds were expected and we all ran for cover).
We were there for 3.5 days, and the first day was pretty rough. The heat and the flies were super bad - there wasn't any wind at all, which made it all the worse. 'Til we all got set up and unloaded we were ready to strangle someone - or each other. :) So we all jumped in the water for a refreshing swim. Until we realized the jellyfish were much worse than last year. Several of the kids got stung, but hardly any of the adults. I think it was really because they were thrashing around in the water and not really paying attention. Typical of your average kid. So we ended up having to be very careful in the water.
Day 2 came with some biking, kayaking and more swimming - plus a nice breeze, so the flies weren't as bad. Day 3 was more of the same, until the thunderstorm rolled in and we ended up spending the late afternoon and evening hiding in a mesh sided tent with everyone. Which was cool in its own respect as we were all together in one place. We played board games and talked and it was fairly relaxing.
One of the best parts for me, was sitting by the campfire the first 2 nights - making smores with all of the kids, and other campfire goodies. I guess though we are all getting too old, as not many of us stayed up too late - party poopers! and instead hit the hay early.
With lots of fun memories, we all headed home on the last day, a little sad and a lot grateful to be returning to civilization. :) All joking aside, we had a wonderful time, and hope everyone will put up with us again next year for another trip! We didn't take too many photos, as it was totally about relaxing while we were there - but we got a few fun snapshots with the point and shoot.
**Ok, I needed to add this stuff, cause I forgot a few things that needed mentioning. On top of all of our catastrophes above, pretty much none of us adults had a good night sleep any of the nights we were there. :) The first night there was loud music being played in a nearby tent, well into the wee hours of the night/morning. Ok, no problem, we all complained about it to each other the next morning. The SECOND night is when the crap hit the fan. :) All the way down on the other side of the beach there was a major party going on with EXTREME loud music being played. Like we could hear it loudly all the way on our side of the beach. So all of us old fuddy-duddy parents didn't sleep much, and the next morning I found out, that half of us were up at 4:30 AM because of this music - Neville actually put his "in charge" hat on and walked down and told the party goers about it - right, at 4:30 AM. So that put an end to it. We were all proud of Neville. :)
And speaking of Neville, he had called us before the trip, all worried about what to bring, what we needed etc. Joel told him the basics, thinking Neville had never been camping before. Boy were we wrong! Mr. Neville is an experienced camper from his youth and pulled out all sorts of fancy tricks on the trip. From being a fire god, to inventing luscious campfire goodies (donuts on a stick anyone?) to enthralling us with hilarious stories of his camping days in Canada and how he got the nickname of Dr. Kai (Hope I spelled that right Neville!). It involves making latrines in the wilderness if that gives you a clue. Hail to the campmaster Neville! :)

I think one of the kids is OCD - nicely lined up shovels...probably Haydn, he always had this thing when he was younger about lining up all of his Thomas trains.

Anyway, I sent them a little baby care package, with a super cute onesie outfit. Cat took a photo of Clara in it and sent it to me - so here is Super Clara!

Whas-nacht day? It's Fasnacht Day! Tuesday, February 5, 2008
I know what you are saying. I can hear you. Why are the Wiebs posting about eating Donuts? Well, they are not just any donuts. These beautious lovelies are deep-fried loving we here in PA call Fasnachts (foss-nots). We even have a day dedicated to them Fasnacht Day! What in the world is Fasnacht Day!?!? Donut Day is a PA tradition. Actually, it's a Catholic tradition that many Protestant churches also celebrate. Traditionally it's a reason to get rid of all of the animal fat and sugar before Lent, and what better way then to heat it up and make Donuts. mmmMMMMMmmmmm, Seriously can there be a better reason for a holiday?
One last thing before I explain the pics. Every year on Fasnacht day I remember my Great Grandmother. Nana was a treasure in our family. Walking in Nana's door was like signing up for all you can eat goodies. She pretty much either had Christmas cookies, canned fruit or chocolate Easter eggs no matter what time time of year you stopped in. I remember sitting at Nana's house eating peanut butter easter eggs till my jaw hurt from all of the sugar. Well, I mention all of this, because Nana was buried on Fasnacht Day. I think of Nana all the time, but this is the one day I always think of her. She'd be happy that I am eating Donuts and smiling :)
OK, so I guess I got off on a tangent. The point of this post was to thank Brock Martin and Dave Warfel of Infinet Design. They are the reason we had donuts today. Just around lunchtime Brock and Dave stopped by the gallery bearing goodies. Did I mention the Wiebs like goodies? Well, they stopped at Central Market here in Lancaster and bought enough fasnachts to fill us all up. Thanks guys!
um...
Our other visitor today was zippy Zane. Zane and my Mom stopped by with a bowl full of homemade pretzels. Yeah, the Wiebs like goodies :) needless to say we didn't get to eat our REAL lunches today.
Goodies make the Wiebs happy. When we were in Tampa a few weeks ago we met a very cool couple of North Dakotian's. Is North Dakotian's a word? Shawna and Kory make up Shawna Noel Photography. Hopefully the little tidbits of photography biz know how that we imparted balance out the goodies they sent us. All of the goodies had to do with North Dakota in some way or other, so we thought we'd share the fun stuff they sent.
Fargo, Mac and Cheese, Spaghetti, Chippers, ice, and a shovel (of course this is a little joke regarding our Traveling Shovel)
Fargo, awesome movie! We don't own this and it's been years since we've seen it, so we are pumped to watch it (as soon as we have down time).
Chippers? Hmmmmm....
We "tested" the Chippers on Zane. He's like the Mikey of our family. Zane will eat anything. Well...
"Here Zane, have a piece of chocolate...
...WITH POTATO CHIPS IN IT...
...HE LIKES IT!"
We just want to thank you guys for the awesome gifts. They are much appreciated and they will all go to good use. Some just faster than others. :)
