Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see a "Vote for Favorite" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!
Are you ready to advance your business? Education in our industry is important to us. The more photographers that are aware in the industry the better it is for everyone. I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita
Yes, back to blogging! It has been awhile hasn't it? August was sort of dreadful, I do have to say. Between Zane and myself being sick, and then being on vacation (we went camping in Canada - yay!, but it rained several days while we camped - boo) - so it has been sort of a whirlwind. We are getting back on track, especially now that both of the boys are back in school - 1st and 3rd grade - yikes! They are getting way too old. Now that I tried to explain what has been up with us...on with the wedding!
Erika and Brian were married July 9th at one of our new venues here in Lancaster, the Cork Factory Hotel. We were so excited to get to shoot there finally! It hasn't been open that long, but I feel like we have been waiting forever to get in there. We made it, and it was sweet! The ceremony and reception were held in the same room (it was turned over during cocktail hour) - but the best part was the great spots for portraits. So much potential in that place. Even though it was a little hot out, Erika and Brian were up for anything - so we toured around the property and hopefully, found some out of the way places to shoot in. We like to be different! Erika had some awesome colors going on with the wedding - blue and orange! She even had an awesome orange necklace and blue shoes.
We had such a great time at their engagement session earlier in the spring that we knew the wedding would be more of the same, and we were right! A great couple in love, what more could a girl (and her guy) ask for?

Erika was trying SO hard not to cry when her mom and Brian's mom both came in all gussied up. Erika has just put her dress on as well, so it was super emotional!

Everyone cheering and beaming at Erika who finally saw herself in the mirror!

Although we loved the brick work, this big white wall was a perfect find.

Um, and even more perfect, this sign on the wall which we nearly missed! One of the bridesmaids pointed it out.

Yep, on the fire escape at the back of the hotel above the kitchen entrance. I told you we like out of the way.

If you remember from Erika and Brian's engagement session, they really love books, and Erika had a stack of books on each table for a centerpiece. I think this photo is a little out of order, but I don't feel like going back through and reorganizing them all, so here it is!

Kerry & Andy's Wedding in Gettysburg Thursday, August 12, 2010
Kerry and Andy were married on July 3rd in Gettysburg - yep, the day right after we were in Pittsburgh! After an almost 5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, we arrived in Gettysburg to a barrage of tourists and reenactment participants. Yes, it was 4th of July weekend and all of the Civil War buffs were out in full force! I didn't mind them being there one bit, it just hindered our progress with travel. We arrived on time and after a few getting ready shots at the hotel, we braved the traffic and made it to the church in Gettysburg. After the ceremony, the limo bus took us to several spots Kerry and Andy wanted to get shots at on the battlefield, and then we arrived at The Links at Gettysburg for the reception. The day ended with surprise fireworks for the guests, how fun!

Andy's dad was an Associated Press photographer for over 20 years if I remember correctly. Here he is taking a light reading on Andy and the priest before the ceremony.

Kim & Armand - A Wedding in Pittsburgh Thursday, August 12, 2010
July 2nd we traveled to Pittsburgh to photograph Kim and Armand's wedding - Kim was a bridesmaid in a past wedding we photographed, and we were super excited when she wanted to bring us out to Pittsburgh for her own wedding. After some getting ready, we headed over to Heinz Chapel on the Pitt campus (where both Kim and Armand went to college) and then it was off to the reception at the PPG Aquarium at the Pittsburgh Zoo. It was a really beautiful day and we were really feeling the black and whites. The Cathedral of Learning near the chapel was just amazing for portraits - and we thought it was very Harry Potter-esque. (Reminded me of Hogwarts!)
I don't have a lot of time to write today, so just look at the images! The speak for themselves. :)

Isn't this shot crazy!? I grabbed Kim and her dad coming down the aisle, and with this shot, a guests flash went off at just the right time, and cast a shadow of another guest on the left back wall. Pretty awesome huh?

Megan and Andrew's Wedding at the Capitol Thursday, August 5, 2010
Megan and Andrew were married on a blistery hot day back in June. June 26th to be exact. We have sure had a lot of scorchers this summer. The good ol' PA humidity never fails to wallop you one when you have to shoot a wedding! Luckily for this wedding, we had the gorgeous interior of the rotunda at the Harrisburg Capitol to work with instead of doing everything outside in the heat. We made the guys go outside before the ceremony for some shots (sorry guys!), mostly to keep them away from the gals, but then the ladies we kept inside in the cool so they wouldn't get all sweaty before the ceremony. Megan looked gorgeous! (Yes, we had back to back "Megan" weddings that weekend!)
The ceremony inside the rotunda was beautiful, the architecture is just amazing! After the ceremony we headed everyone outside (grumble, it's hot!) - we weren't the only ones feeling the heat. But we kept everyone near the cool, misty fountain behind the Capitol and then it was off to the West Shore Country Club for some more shots with Megan and Andrew and then the reception.
So many great things happened I can't list them all! Just check out the photos below. :)

When Harry met Megan, and they got married Wednesday, August 4, 2010
Ok, so when "Harry met Sally" is stuck in my head as I started writing this blog post. I don't think I have ever even seen that movie, but I know its a love story and that's all that counts! Cause our version, "When Harry met Megan" is about love! Harry and Megan are a super sweet couple that are from Jersey, and found us on a day trip to Lancaster last summer. They are our first official "First Friday" couple! They found us when they wondered into our gallery on a First Friday event. We photographed their engagement session awhile back here in Lancaster, and for their wedding, we tripped it out to the Mercer Museum in Doylestown. What a cool place! (Even though they are doing construction on the entire front side of this cool "castle" like museum.) The inside is really stunning, and very eclectic.
The entire wedding was held at the museum, with the ceremony outdoors and the reception inside. -Getting ready was at the Doylestown Inn, complete with Megan watching The Muppets movie. :) Anyway, the ceremony was short and sweet, these two wanted to get on to the festivities. We had some fun with the wedding party out in the heat (sorry guys!) but then moved inside for most of Megan and Harry's portraits. The museum was just too cool not too! The reception was full of toasts, dancing and mingling. And we even ended the night getting a shot for Harry with the front of the museum in the background. No orange construction fence in sight! We are tricky!
