Do you like to have fun? We do, especially with our photos. We wanted something a little different than the average blog out there, so along with our super talented Blog designer we came up with a Favorites section - or "Wiebner Faves" as we like to call it. What is it you ask? more »
Well, under each photo, you will see a "Vote for Favorite" box. If you really like that image, if it tickles your fancy, or makes you laugh, or just plain old makes you smile - go ahead - check it. We know you want to. Each time that box is clicked on a photo, it adds to the running tally for that image. The top 14 favorite images on the entire blog will be shown as thumbnails in this section. Just so you can see the most popular images of all time on the blog. A little something out of the ordinary - it never hurts to be different!
Also, blog posts can be favorites. Now that we have comments available, you will see a little bar meter at the bottom left of each post. Once the meter hits a certain number of comments, its automatically promoted to a "Wiebner Fave Post". :) Something else just for fun!

I find it incredibly difficult to write about us when put on "The Spot". "I need a 500 word bio about you and Joel, now!" Who can do that? How do you make your own personality shine in a few words, let alone that of two people? Well, I am going to give it my best shot. If you really want to know about US - who we really are - read the blog below. We really try to keep it updated as often as possible, and hope that our fun, casual personalities shine through in the words you read and the images we capture for our clients. The blog below is our way of communicating our lives - both personal and professional - with clients, friends, family and colleagues. We believe strongly in using words and images together to communicate our passion.
I am going to keep this short and sweet - Joel and I were meant to be together - to live, love and be happy making photographs. We were both photographers before we met over 9 years ago - we met behind a camera, and continue to feed off of that energy. We are a rock solid husband and wife team and we wouldn't want it any other way - we work together 24/7 and never tire of each other. We have had our business since November 2000, and have thrived on photographing weddings as our main photography genre since 2002. We love what we do. We like to think we look at the world in our own way - not photojournalistically, not traditionally, not artistically. Just as a Wiebner. If you like what we see, then you will like us too. Oh and don't forget to comment in the blog on our two little darlings - Haydn and Zane - they are pretty darn cute little Wiebners. Enjoy! - Rita

The Wiebs hit the Southwest

A few weeks ago we were lucky to take a little hiatus from the office work and head to Arizona for a few days. It was a great little mini-vacation and was super relaxing. This was our first time visiting Arizona, and it was beautiful. For a down home country girl (as in farmer/Amish country) - the landscapes of the southwest were just breathtaking. I was constantly in awe of the different plant life and environment we saw. A great example were the homes and power lines there. All of the homes are the same color as the earth - a desert brown color - and they all blend in to the landscape. If you just glance out across the horizon, it is difficult to pick out where homes are. It's really cool. Also, all of the power lines are underground - I guess they do all of this so as not to disrupt the beauty of the land. We were just eating up all of the diversity. Saguaros, cactus candy, woodpeckers everywhere - for the nature lovers that we are, we were in heaven! I just wish we could have spent more time there! We will be back though, next January...
We didn't take too many photos, but did take a bunch of stuff just for us. Here they be!
I really liked this sign we saw at a local shop... |

Joel got this wicked-cool shot of some cacti.

This was right outside in the backyard of our vila we stayed in at the resort.

Nearly $1000 Raised for Portrait House!

Wowzers! I am so stoked about the turn out we had last month at Photo Nights for Charity! There were 50 photographers that turned out to hear us speak, and we raised just shy of $1000! That's rockin! All of the money raised went to The Portrait House, an organization for photographers to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. The wonderful Jennifer Domenick and Mary Gardella of Love, Life Images were our hostesses for the evening, and them along with their staff took the photos below.
And a huge thanks to our sponsor, Simply Canvas, for providing us with some yummalish new canvases to display during our seminar. They also gave attendees gift certificates!
Go ahead, check us out! We are funny to look at and even funnier looking in person! :)
We like to joke about ourselves if you haven't figured that out. :) |

Corrie and Jamie - May 3rd

Our 2nd wedding of the season was spent with Corrie and Jamie - we have already worked with them on several occasions - for their engagement photos last fall, and again just a month or so ago, we photographed some family fun of Corrie and her family. We always love getting to know our couples so well before the wedding day, and felt like a member of the family on the day of the wedding.
We started out at Corrie's aunt's house to get some getting ready fun with her and the girls. The house was packed and everyone was laughing and having a great time. Several of Corrie's cousins were in the wedding, and 2 of them were flower girls and were just too cute!! Once the ceremony was over at the church, we raced over to Riverdale Manor where the reception was held, to get some photos of the family, wedding party, and Corrie and Jamie. We have been at Riverdale several times now, as it is a popular Lancaster area venue, but we always try to do something new every time we go there. That is true of any venue we visit multiple times - we like new and different! So we tromped to the back of the property and had some fun playing in the woods - that's where Mindy, one of the Riverdale coordinators found us when it was time for the reception to start. She laughed at us for being so hidden! The reception started off with a bang as Corrie's brother came out wearing a kilt for his toast. More on that below!
We were rockin' and rollin' at the reception where we captured so many great guest shots - and if you haven't figured it out by now, we really love receptions. It's one of our favorite parts of the day! :)
I loved this first shot as Corrie had just gotten her veil put on and I was hiding in the corner - she said, "Rita, you have to get that!" and I peeked out and this is what I saw...and yes, that's Joel back there! |

Corrie's aunt's dog was so cute! Her one cousin was getting her to do tricks for me, I love this one as she got her to roll over.

Corrie's flowers were gorgeous!

Corrie was trying to hurry up and put her makeup on and one of her flower girls kept on trying to sneak peeks in the mirror!

Corrie was trying to peak out and see Jamie as Joel shooshed him in to the church so he wouldn't be seen. :)

I always love it when flower girls have pomanders. They are just great to photograph.

Joel snagged this great shot of Corrie as we were finishing her portraits upstairs.

We weren't permitted to get too many shots during the ceremony (church rules, which we always respect) - but this one was grabbed as the happy couple walked out of the church.

And what's a wedding without bubbles?

Over at Riverdale, I love this one of Corrie. Here eyes are so beautiful in this shot!

Hiding back in the woods!

And yes, this is Corrie's brother Nick. Everyone say Hi Nick - He decided to terribly embarrass Corrie by changing into this lovely kilt for the reception. I love his socks. :)

This is one of my personal favorite shots from the day. This was caught while the blessing was being said for the meal, and I just so happened to look down in front of me at the right second and grab this. This little girl and her sister were in the cutest matching polka dot dresses!

During the father/daughter dance, Corrie pulled Jamie out on the dance floor to dance with her dad!

There were so many cute kids at this wedding!

Getting the party started - for sure!

It just so happens that Joel and I both got two really great shots of the gentleman in the center and his son, sitting to his right. This shot is mine, which I just LOVE to pieces. And the next photo is Joel's - caught him using his son's head as a monopod! :)

This little diva was TEARING up the dance floor! She was all over the place and knew so many dance moves, she was putting a lot of the adults to shame!

Jen and Eric - Engagement in Philly

Well the season is all of a sudden in full swing and we find ourselves bombarded with weddings, engagements and portraits! More yummy stuff for all of you blog followers to ogle at. We have several recent shoots to blog yet, and another wedding from last weekend, but I will get to those within the next few days. Our daily lives have been a bit hectic, and we are sorry if we aren't replying to emails or phone calls as quickly as we normally do. It's funny how all of a sudden as soon as that first wedding of the year hits, you are suddenly so busy you can't think straight! We surely love it and wouldn't have it any other way, just please be patient with us!
Anyway, I am rambling too much about the mundane stuff and not nearly enough about this fabulous couple - Jen and Eric. We first met with these two last August when they made the drive up from Philly (in rush hour!) to meet with us to see if we were a good fit for their wedding. Well we all hit it off from the start and we were so thrilled to do an engagement session with them in their city of Philadelphia. We will be photographing their wedding later this summer in downtown Philly and are waaay excited for it!
For their engagement session they just wanted to take a walk around town and just get what we found. Well we found a lot! We actually almost had to cancel this shoot as the rain literally followed us this day all the way down the turnpike. And I don't just mean rain, I mean huge dark forboding storm clouds! We were sure we were going to get down there and it was going to dump on us, but luckily, it only sprinkied for about 10 minutes or so and totally disappeared. It worked out beautifully for us.
So we ran around town with Jen and Eric, and found lots of well...spring! The pollen was so thick and heavy, and normally Joel and I don't have allergies too bad, but we were jinxed as Jen kept saying all afternoon, "It's a good thing none of us have allergies!" The entire way home in the car Joel and I were sneezing up a storm and felt like we had taken a pollen bath. It was totally everywhere. Jen and Eric were so into each other and so full of great expressions, it was hard not to get good shots. In fact, when they came in with their parents to view their photos last weekend, we all couldn't stop laughing about how many funny pictures of Eric we ended up getting. We just kept catching him making goofy faces. I didn't post a lot of them here (just one or two!) - we picked on him enough last weekend.
Jen and Eric! We loved working with you two and can not wait until your wedding this summer! Now, on to the photos and the mysterious meadow we found in downtown Philly...hmmm....
I think this first photo here is super sexy! What better way to start the session than thrusting our couple out into like 8 lanes of traffic near the Art Museum? |

We took shelter in one of the sections of the art museum - it isn't at the main building but across the street - while it rained for a few minutes. These two were hot to trot off the start! :) AND they have matching flip flops!

Practicing their balance act, because Jen claims Eric has terrible balance - I think he did a good job here while Jen gave a great expression.

This is one of Jen's favorites, they ended up ordering this as a canvas for their apartment! i love knowing our photos are going to go on walls! This was on a cool alley we found where every house door or garage door on the street was a different color, it was tres cool.

On the same street, we actually got permission to use these front steps! It just so happened that the owner of 2039 was walking out of his house just as we were ready to take a photo. Of course we kind of had to explain what we were doing...

Awesome fence at a church..how many of you have seen those spikes they put on buildings to deter pigeons from landing? This church was covered with them and was a little creepy looking!

ooh, another piece of eye candy - this one is also a canvas Jen and Eric purchased pretty big for their home. I love it! Can you believe this was in the back of a parking lot?

Ah here is some of Eric's silliness. Jen said he looks like Popeye in this shot!

And the mysterious meadow - believe it or not, this is right next to route 76 - it's at the on ramp! We were giddy because we found this so cool spot in the middle of all of these buildings and huge highway...we got soooo many great shots in this spot. It was like our own private paradise for a few minutes.

Playing in the "meadow" - we were having some fun with the dandelions. I love this shot of Jen, she looks like she is trying to tempt you with the dandelion.

At the Art Museum at the end of our tour, we hopped some bushes and got some of the city in the background.

We all love this shot, it was the very last shot of the day and Eric spontaneously picked Jen up like this and bam! we both got it. This is Joel's shot which was the better from the both of us, and for you photogs out there, he nailed this quickly with the 85mm 1.2 - a very hard feat to accomplish!
